Jay C. Olivier is an award-winning television producer/writer/director of photography based in Central and Southeast Texas. In the past 25 years he has won nearly thirty awards at national and international film festivals and received a special jury gold medal at the Sandoz Medical Journalism Festival for authoring the book, AIDS: A GUIDE FOR SURVIVAL.
He and his company have produced PBS documentaries such as, GIFTED CHILDREN: OUR UNTAPPED RESOURCE, narrated by Steve Allen and BEAUTY FOR ASHES, a compassionate and sensitive documentary on fourteen survivors of massive burn injuries, narrated by McLean Stevenson.
A three part educational package on AIDS, including the book, AIDS: A GUIDE FOR SURVIVAL and two videotapes, garnered national acclaim. AIDS: ON THE FRONT LINE was designed for teachers of students in grades 6 through 12 and AIDS: PROTECT YOURSELF was for the students themselves. Over two and a half million copies of the book have been distributed in two languages, and the videotapes are still being used in school systems throughout the U.S.
TAKING CONTROL: A SURVIVOR'S GUIDE TO BRAIN INJURY, an interactive educational series about head injuries for head injured survivors featuring music by Steve Winwood won multiple awards.
Additional award-winning projects include: a commercial film campaign for WEST OAKS HOSPITAL; a documentary about a volunteer women’s group in Houston's Near Northside Barrio called DE MADRES A MADRES; a documentary on COVENANT HOUSE, TEXAS; a documentary on the 100-YEAR HISTORY OF THE RICE MILLERS ASSOCIATION and English and Spanish versions of a video on CRISS COLE REHABILITATION CENTER FOR THE BLIND in Austin, TX.
In 2004, Jay’s screenplay, WHISKEY BAY, won top finalist awards at four film festivals. He is currently shopping a one-hour pilot documentary for a television series on plastic surgery. A deal memo has been signed with a European distributor. A book co-authored with Bill Brauer, called THE SINUS SOLUTION, is available soon on Amazon.com.
In addition to these notable projects, we have completed hundreds of successful educational, training, safety, marketing, sales, and company I.D. videos for corporate, medical, and government clients during the past twenty-four years.
Jay also works as a freelance Director of Photography and Producer for broadcast news, magazine shows, medical and corporate clients, including: ABC Sports, CNN, CNBC, ESPN, FOX, HBO, HBO Sports, MTV, VH1, Showtime, Discovery Channel, The History Channel, Animal Planet, Food Network, The Oprah Show, The Dr. Phil Show, Rachel Ray, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Donahue, Extra, Inside Edition, America’s Most Wanted, American Idol, House Hunters, Designer’s Challenge, etc.
